Each year, the lovely team at Cooper King Distillery releases a map containing all of the English Whisky Distilleries.
Many english distilleries already have whisky available to buy, while some are awaiting the maturation of their whisky casks. And a few are still building their distilleries!
In this latest version (2025) there are 61 distilleries on the map. Scroll down to see some statistics on who is doing what, where and when...
The South West region has the most English Distilleries (15), while the North East and the East Midlands have the fewest (2 each).

As of 2025, there are 38 English Whisky distilleries with whiskies actually released to the public. A further 18 distilleries have distilled new make spirit maturing in barrel awaiting the minimum of 3 years ageing before they can be legally called whisky.
In total, there are 61 English Whisky Distilleries.

Of the English Whisky Distilleries with whiskies actually released to the public, Cotswolds is the one with the largest still capacity at 6,500 litres. Although the Lakes Distillery has the next largest still capacity it is quite a bit smaller at 3,600 litres.

Still size indicates the production capacity in a single run. It does not represent total output of a distillery's spirits, or specifically which of the distillery's spirits are being produced in what quantity. A smaller still being used more frequently may produce more total output of spirit than a larger one being used less frequently!
Although Healeys produced a whisky in 2000, it was in partnership with a brewery who produced the distillation wash. The English Distillery (or St. Georges' Distillery as it was previously known) was the first English distillery producing whisky from start to finish in its entirety.
