These are ex-Tawny Port casks that have been filled with new-make, single malt spirit from Lancaster Spirits Co. These smaller Tawny Port seasoned casks hold 100 Litres (approx 140 x 70cl bottles).

About the Single Malt
The new-make spirit that goes into this barrel has been through a long, considered process beginning simply with malted barley, water and yeast. These ingredients, in the hands of the experienced brewing team at Lancaster Brewery, are mashed and fermented into a beer 'wash'.
The wash is introduced to Constance, the gleaming bespoke pot still that takes centre stage in the purpose-built warehouse: 'The Whisky Room'. The distilling is hands on, with no automation. The experienced distillers use their finely honed palates to make sure that only the very best cuts make their way into our collection tanks.
Then crystal clear water from The Bowland Well is used to reduce the spirit to the desired cask-filling strength of 63.5% Alc. Custom-fit racking bays line the walls of The Whisky Room and here, the filled casks are set to mature over the coming years.
Owning a cask means you can bottle some of the very first whisky matured in Lancaster, a unique piece of Lancastrian distilling history.
